Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services has published its annual look at the top and bottom retail markets in the country. Nearly every market the company covers saw a rise in vacancies last year. Only San Francisco and New York experienced a lowering in the vacancy rate during the year. Markets that have experienced sharp downturns in conjunction with the bursting of the housing bubble fared the worst.
