The renovation of Willow Grove Park Mall drew inspiration from the Victorian Amusement Park that occupied the site from 1892 to 1976. Already the premier shopping destination in the area, the design goal was to enhance the mall's original construction. This objective was achieved without the use of construction barricades and the project was completed both under budget and within the 9-month construction schedule.

An illustrative panorama was painted in strategic locations throughout the project, from the new entrances to the new food court and venues. The new design includes two major court renovations and amenity improvements including new flooring, new lighting, HVAC improvements and the addition of a replica Philadelphia Toboggan Company Carousel that originally graced the former amusement park. The existing flooring has been completely replaced with an Italian ceramic tile simulating stone at nearly one-fourth the cost of natural marble. New Victorian chandeliers and street lanterns replace previously installed incandescent and neon lighting. The result is an ambiance that allows the public to stroll through Willow Grove Park as they did a century ago on the very same site.
