BEAME ARCHITECTURAL PARTNERSHIP

Sep 1, 2006 12:00 PM

Headquartered in Coral Gables, Fla., Beame Architectural Partnership is a boutique firm that for more than two decades has specialized in the design of retail and mixed-use destinations. Although each of our projects is unique in its own way, whether in the U.S. or international, they all share a common design philosophy that characterizes all of our work.

It's a philosophy that demands we create environments with a unique sense of place where people are drawn to it and a design that makes economic sense. It must do its part to ensure that the completed, functioning project, whether a suburban lifestyle center or an urban mixed-use Main Street center, delivers a return to its investment.

To us, this means applying innovative, imaginative, cutting-edge architecture to address the unforgiving demands of the marketplace and the laws of economics. We start with the merchandising and business fundamentals of the project. Then we turn up the design volume, not to make a statement, but to create inviting, exciting places where shoppers enjoy spending time and money. We believe it's an approach that in the end graces the landscape and the bottom line.

Much of our current work is urban infill projects with retail at the base and high-rise residential or office above. An increasing number of projects are public/private partnerships in CRA areas. Of course, this trend is greatly influenced by the market and demographic shifts. Some of the best projects are those within an existing urban grid — part of the fabric of the city. These projects can be the gathering place for these communities.

Recognizing that even terms like mixed-use can mean very different things in different communities and cultures, the component parts of these projects will differ from one part of the country to another and, of course, one country to another. We address these differences and then translate them into destinations that attract tenants and customers, bringing clients back to us year after year.
