DORSKY HODGSON + PARTNERS

Sep 1, 2003 12:00 PM

At Dorsky Hodgson + Partners, lifestyles have always dictated design, and today's changing lifestyles demand new designs for public spaces. Lifestyle centers are emerging as an appealing solution and Dorsky Hodgson is embracing this concept of dynamic destinations where Americans can conveniently shop, work, live, and play.

As a national architecture, planning, interiors and environmental graphics firm, Dorsky Hodgson has successfully teamed with developers to create innovative and exciting retail settings. In each project, the design team defines the unique character to create a distinct quality — a special sense of place. Whether it's recreating an historic village in Hudson, Ohio; building an eclectic Midwestern Main Street in the Cleveland area; or designing an expansive, retail-oriented mixed-use complex in Florida, the goal is simple: to translate clients' visions into successful and appealing destinations.

Legacy Village is such a place. Referencing Midwestern historical styles, the total environment creates an upscale, yet comfortable and inviting environment — the essence of a lifestyle center. When it's completed this fall, this extensive development will include 650,000 square feet of retail, restaurants, and offices, surrounded by landscaped plazas, interactive fountains, mini-parks, and other inviting streetscape amenities.

Another significant project on the boards is University Town Center in Sarasota, Fla. This 2-million-square-foot commercial development consists of a 680,000 square-foot lifestyle center, encircled by major big-box retail elements, as well as a hotel, convention center, and theater.

With offices in Cleveland, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Washington, D.C., the firm is organized around three market-specific studios of design: Commercial, Residential, and Senior Living. The Commercial Studio is involved with the complete spectrum of retail work, which includes lifestyle centers, malls, specialty and big-box centers, as well as repositioning and retheming existing centers.

Combining its expertise and depth of experience in both the Commercial and Residential Studios, Dorsky Hodgson has been involved with major of mixed-use projects that blend shopping, working, living, and relaxing in a stimulating, interactive environment.

Through a diverse group of design talent, the firm provides a depth of expertise and experience to create significant and dynamic environments that are unique to each area.
