JPRA ARCHITECTS

Sep 1, 2007 12:00 PM

For nearly 30 years, JPRA Architects has designed some of the nation's most unique shopping center experiences — incorporating innovative design techniques new to the industry. We take the time to learn about demographics and cultural trends within the market in which we are working, which leads to a better, more successful retail destination.

The renovations to The Waterside Shops in Naples, Fla., required a metamorphosis of the existing buildings' architecture, as well as the common mall environment, to establish it as the retail destination of choice for residents and visitors alike. As the Naples community continues to grow and new residents populate the region, they will discover that the Waterside Shops was designed with them in mind. JPRA, along with the owner, Forbes Co., formulated a revitalizing design strategy that encompassed a number of primary elements to improve the property.

JPRA studied the elements of the existing shopping center and designed a new, engaging, modern image to complement the expanded fashion retail strategy. What followed was a total transformation and restoration of existing buildings and walkways, including, roof and floor surfaces, column enclosures, canopies, etc. The overall ambiance now embodies a contemporary, highly sophisticated shopping, dining and entertaining environment.

The addition of a royal palm promenade, which cuts through a vacated department store leading into the central common area, permitted the inclusion of many new high-quality retail shops. The entire interior common area boasts all new water features and landscaping which energizes the environment, creating a memorable place to shop and dine.
