Welcome to Retail Traffic's Leaders in Retail Architecture 2005

Sep 1, 2005 12:00 PM, Warren Bimblick

I am pleased to present the largest showcase of retail architects in the history of our magazine. Eighteen architectural firms make up this elite cadre.

As you read through this guide, please note the comments from the lead partners at the firms. We asked them to focus specifically on the critical issues that our editors have identified as shaping retail architecture.

These include:

What are the architectural innovations that will shape the retail center of the future?

Have you learned any lessons from projects abroad that could be used to improve U.S. design?

How are mixed-use projects changing the way you do business and how are they impacting design strategies?

These are, by the way, the very issues that are having an impact on design excellence as exemplified by Retail Traffic's Superior Achievement in Design and Imaging (SADI) award. In fact, in 2006 we will be adding an award category for Mixed-Use Development. The call for entries will be in December 2005, and if you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me.

I also encourage you to visit our Leaders in Retail Architecture directory on our Web site at retailtrafficmag.com.

I thank our sponsors and hope you find this year's Leaders a useful tool.

Best regards,
Warren N. Bimblick

The Superior Achievement in Design and Imaging (SADI) awards never fail to surprise-especially the Grand SADI winners. In this year's contest a department store, FRCH Design Worldwide's scheme for the Liverpool Polanco store in Mexico City, took home the top prize.
