Skating in the Desert

Aug 1, 2008 12:00 PM

Temperatures in Dubai in July often average more than 100 degrees. The Emaar Malls Group is offering residents and tourists a new way to cool off — an ice rink. The company is building the Dubai Ice Rink at Dubai Mall. The Olympic-size rink will sit in an open area within the mall, visible from three levels of mall thoroughfares. The rink will also feature professional hockey dasher boards and glass and the rink will be National Hockey League-certified. The venue can also be used as a concert hall and features a giant 60 foot by 20 foot LED screen.
