ACT II: SILVERCUP STUDIOS

The Sopranos and Sex and the City solidified New York's Silvercup Studios' fame as a state-of-the art production facility. Now developer brothers Alan Suna and Stuart March Suna plan an adjacent 2-million-square-foot mixed-used retail, residential and office development on the East River in Queens. The Sunas have hired Britain's Lord Richard Rogers, best known for the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Millennium Dome in London, to work with NBBJ Architecture on the 6.5-acre development. The studios occupy the flour silo of the former Silvercup Bakery, whose trademark sign can still be seen from Manhattan.
