Coming Soon: Mall Musical

Feb 1, 2008 12:00 PM

MTV is looking to recreate Disney's hit High School Musical with a new series set in a mall. The title? The American Mall. The project is from High School Musical producers Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush and will premiere next year on the cable network, followed immediately by release on DVD. The musical, a romantic comedy-drama set at a mall centers on a high school graduate, a singer/songwriter battling to save her mother's music store and to keep the boy she loves, Joey, a musically gifted young janitor who fronts a garage band. Shooting was slated to begin in late January at a mall in Provo, Utah.
