- The first phase of Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole in Annapolis, Md., opens this fall transforming an older shopping center into a mixed-use town center. The Greenberg Gibbons Commercial Corp. development will feature a grand boulevard with 600,000 square feet of multilevel retail space below 900 residential units. ka is the retail design and executive architect; the master plan architect is the Martin Architectural Group, PC of Philadelphia.
- Ground broke in June on the Woodmore Towne Centre at Glenarden, also in Maryland. ka is collaborating with developer Petrie Ross Ventures on this 245-acre mixed-use development.
- ka is working with CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. and Faison Enterprises on Settlers Ridge, a new lifestyle center, which broke ground in April, located in metropolitan Pittsburgh.
At its Client Summit this July, the firm hosted developer and tenant clients at an educational program on sustainability in retail development. The event featured national speakers including representatives from the U.S. Green Building Council and the city of Dallas. (Presentations are available online at kainc.com). Meanwhile, the firm's experience with sustainability continues to grow as ka was part of the team on Forest City Development's LEED-certified Promenade Bolingbrook in Illinois.
