OWP/P

Sep 1, 2008 12:00 PM

Creativity and business acumen define OWP/P Retail. Market leader Michael J. Sullivan, AIA and director of retail design and Leo V. Mendez, AIA, infuse the group with their shared passion for creating dynamic retail environments. Think of great partnerships like Lewis and Clark, Lennon and McCartney, Magic and Kareem. Both people bring a unique perspective to the table and it is the synergy that produces extraordinary results. This is Sullivan and Mendez. Mike looks at projects from the business angle. What are the client's goals? What are the marketplace conditions? How can the client meet its goals within that commercial climate? Leo takes the creative angle, using his passion for design to search for ways to make the project fresh and innovative, designing spaces that make people take notice. Together, they create memorable environments that succeed both from a retail business perspective and as inspiring design.

Approaching work this way ensures that each environment is crafted specifically for that client, for that location. Two recently completed projects, Les Quatre Temps and Oakwood Center are examples of these project-specific design solutions.

Les Quatre Temps is at a high-profile location in the La Defénse commercial district of Paris adjacent to La Grande Arche. At 1.8 million square feet it is one of the largest retail centers in Europe. The renovation and expansion had to be spectacular. And it is. Exquisitely detailed with dramatic lighting energizing public areas, the mall was transformed into one of Europe's most desirable retail leasing locations.

Oakwood Center, located just outside New Orleans, had been closed since the hurricane in 2005. The owner's primary goal for the project was to reopen. Working within a modest budget, OWP/P created an environment full of light and color, bringing Mardi Gras cheer back to the city.
