Federal Realty to Renovate Charlottesville Center

Federal Realty Investment Trust will renovate Barracks Road Shopping Center in Charlottesville, Va. Improvements will include a new canopy roof, a new façade and a refreshed fountain court that will offer outdoor dining. The projects will commence in May 2011 and is scheduled to be completed in 2012.
Forest City Appoints Bishop COO of Commercial Group
Forest City Enterprises Inc. promoted Duane F. Bishop, Jr. to executive vice president and COO of the company’s commercial group. In his new position, Bishop will be responsible for asset management, leasing, finance and financial reporting. He will report directly to James A. Ratner, chairman, president and CEO of Forest City’s commercial group.
Previously, Bishop served as executive vice president of asset management with the firm. He has been with Forest City since 1985, when he joined as a financial analyst and property manager.
CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. appointed Asieh Mansour as head of Americas research and senior managing director of global research and consulting, effective May 9. In her new position, Mansour will direct Americas-based commercial real estate market analysis and advise the company’s leadership in the region on economic issues.
In addition, she will serve as a member of the Americas operating management board.
Mansour has more than 20 years of experience as a real estate economist. Prior to joining CBRE, she served as managing director and head of Americas research with RREEF.
“Our research and analytical capabilities are a key strength for CB Richard Ellis, which we continually work to improve,” said Mike Lafitte, CBRE’s president of the Americas. ”Adding a professional of Asieh’s stature and accomplishment to our leadership team will markedly enhance our intellectual capital in the Americas.”
Giant Eagle Signs a Deal in Ohio’s Broadview Heights
Giant Eagle signed a lease with TRC Realty LLC for an 83,832-square-foot store in Broadview Heights, Ohio. Goodman Real Estate Services Group LLC represented the landlord in the transaction.
Goodman Real Estate Services also represented TJ Maxx in its 25,000-square-foot lease at the Cross Creek Shopping Center in Heath, Ohio.
ALDI to Open at Crystal Town Center in Twin Cities
ALDI signed a lease with Paster Enterprises for a 17,929-square-foot store at Crystal Town Center in St. Paul, Minn.
Variety Store Chain Jembro Leases Two Stores in Chicagoland
Jembro, a family-owned chain of variety stores, signed a 15,200-square-foot lease at Hillcrest Shopping Center in Crest Hill, Ill. The retailer plans to open its new locations later this summer. Earlier this month, Jembro opened an 8,400-square-foot store at Bricktown Square in Chicago.
Margret Graham and Katie Hennegan, of Mid-America Management Inc., represented the landlord in the transaction at Hillcrest Shopping Center. Mary Beth Menelli-Iveljic represented the landlord in the transaction at Bricktown Square.
Medical Services Provider Comes to Petco Plaza in Norwood
Urgent Care, a medical practice providing prompt treatment of non-life threatening injuries and illnesses, signed a lease with CMI Property Inc. for a 9,000-square-foot facility at Petco Plaza in Norwood, Mass. The 45,000-square-foot property houses such tenants as Petco, Outback Steakhouse, Landry’s Bicycles, Santucci’s New York Style Pizza and Spa Bellissimo. The Urgent Care lease brings occupancy at the center to 100 percent.

Winick Realty Group LLC has picked up 90,000 square feet of exclusive leasing assignments throughout New York City. Alexander E. Hill, Lori Shabtai, Joshua Siegelman, Michael Gleicher and Kelly Gedinsky are handling these assignments on behalf of Winick.
Avison Young hired Marty Almquist as principal. Almquist will be based in the company’s Tysons Corner, Va. office. In her new position she will focus on agency leasing and tenant representation in Northern Virginia. Previously, Almquist served as senior vice president with Cassidy Turley.
CPEX Real Estate hired George Danut as associate director of research. In his new position, he will provide market research and database supervision and will compile reports for various product types. Prior to joining CPEX, Danut interned with the Permanent Mission of Romania to the United Nations.CPEX also hired Cengiz Sendogdular as a development and conversion associate. In his new position, Sendogdular will help promote research, marketing and sales efforts. Prior to joining CPEX, he served as a business analyst with ArcelorMittal.
