May 3, 2002 12:00 PM

Warrendale, Pa.-based American Eagle Outfitters today announced that former CBL & Associates senior VP George "Buck" Sappenfield will take charge of the retailer’s real estate division.

Sappenfield has served as CBL’s senior VP of asset management since May 2000. Prior to joining CBL, he worked for more than 17 years with the real estate division of The Limited. Sappenfield, who began his career with Melvin Simon & Associates, was president of the Limited's real estate division from 1993 to 2000.

"We are thrilled to welcome Buck to American Eagle," Jim O'Donnell, American Eagle’s COO, said in a statement. "He brings an extensive real estate background, which will be a tremendous asset as we continue our new store opening plans and position the company for future growth."
