Donahue Schriberchairman dies

Dan Donahue, chairman of Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Donahue Schriber since 1982, died Dec. 31 in Newport Beach, Calif.

In its 33-year history under Donahue’s leadership as Chairman, Donahue Schriber developed and redeveloped over 15 million square feet of retail space throughout California, Nevada and Arizona, including Glendale Galleria in Glendale, California; the repositioning of Fashion Island in Newport Beach, California; The Market Place (formerly Tustin Market Place) in Tustin and Irvine, California; Galleria at Tyler in Riverside, California; and the industry’s first ‘demalling’ at Anaheim Plaza in Anaheim, California.

Today Donahue Schriber owns and/or operates 68 neighborhood, community, power and regional centers encompassing over 14 million square feet of retail space in California, Nevada and Arizona. The firm has been structured as a private real estate investment trust since 1997.

Donahue was the recipient of numerous awards for his service to the real estate industry. His most recent recognition was in October 2002, when the California Business Properties Association bestowed its Champion of the Industry Award upon Donahue for "improvement of the commercial, industrial, and retail real estate industry in California through the development of projects that stand out for their innovation, attraction and versatility." In May 2002 Donahue and Thomas Schriber were honored with the University of California, Irvine (UCI) Graduate School of Management Lifetime Achievement Award in Real Estate.
