Katz & Associates Corp.

Patricia Barnett is the new director of real estate, Western region, for Pearl River, N.Y.-based Katz & Associates Corp. in its San Francisco office. Formerly the West Coast real estate manager with Consolidated Stores, Barnett will identify and secure retail real estate locations based on market and demographic characteristics.

ICSC

New York-based ICSC promoted Herb Tyson to staff vice president of state and local government relations. Previously the senior director for state and local government relations, Tyson is now responsible for project oversight, staff management and government relations on a state and local level. Prior to joining ICSC, he served in the Clinton Administration as director of intergovernmental affairs in the Bureau of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.

Pace Properties Inc.

Denise Chomicki recently joined Pace Properties Inc. as chief financial officer. The St. Louis-based firm focuses on investment and development, property services such as brokerage and management, and retail and non-retail corporate services.

Crown Realty & Development

Irvine, Calif.-based Crown Realty & Development appointed Don Smith to vice president of acquisitions to lead the firm's continued growth of its property portfolio. Smith, who has more than 14 years of experience in the real estate industry, will focus on identifying and recommending strategies to complete the purchase of retail properties appealing to Crown's investment goals. Most recently, Smith served as a partner with Los Angeles-based Pacific Coast Investment.

NewMark Merrill Cos. LLC

Tarzana, Calif.-based NewMark Merrill Cos. appointed Gabriel Hernandez to vice president of operations. In his new role, Hernandez will oversee 45 company assets, which represent more than 4 million sq. ft. of retail space. He also will supervise four property managers and two property assistants.

Levin Management Corp.

Matthew Harding recently was named president of North Plainfield, N.J.-based Levin Management Corp. He also was appointed to the company's board of directors. Harding has been affiliated with the real estate firm for more than 15 years. He originally handled leasing of the Levin portfolio as executive vice president at Paul Lawrence Realty Associates, a subsidiary of Levin Management Corp. He joined Levin's in-house team in 1996 as senior vice president/deputy chief operating officer. Harding will continue his involvement in overall company operations and will focus on aggressive business development efforts.

The Wallick Cos.

Thomas Lusk is the new vice president of real estate for Columbus, Ohio-based The Wallick Cos. His responsibilities will involve all aspects of development in the firm's Midwest region. Lusk has more than 15 years of commercial real estate finance and development experience and has held senior positions with local finance institutions, along with key development positions with The Daimler Group Inc.

The Macerich Co.

Randy Brant recently joined The Macerich Co. in the newly created position of senior vice president, development leasing. From the company's Santa Monica, Calif., home office, Brant will work with senior executives in the company's leasing and real estate departments on Macerich's shopping center redevelopment projects. In addition, he will work with the senior management team on the evaluation of the entire Macerich portfolio for value and the creation of new leasing and redevelopment opportunities.
