Mark G. Bulmash joined Forest City Commercial as senior vice president for East Coast development, a new position. Bulmash was a group vice president for Taubman Centers, where he oversaw development of new shopping centers and directed major renovations.

Inland Real Estate Investment Corp, named Michael O'Hanlon senior vice president and director of asset management. He will coordinate Inland's portfolio.

Private real estate investment and development firm Related Urban Development and Thomas J. Klutznick Co. will develop a 144-acre mixed-use center in Phoenix, in an area known as Desert Ridge. The first phase, called CityNorth, will feature 1 million square feet of retail, 2 million square feet of office, two hotels and 1,000 condominiums.

Real estate investment and development company James Doran Co. hired Mary Kay Stafford as director of leasing and marketing. The company also hired Matt Grayson as a project manager who will oversee development of the 140-acre, mixed-use Northshore Town Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

The City of Chicago has given approval to the Mills Corp. to begin construction and development of a large mixed-use project known as 108 North State Street. It will include 400,000 square feet of retail, 200,000 to 450,000 square feet of office space and a hotel. The retail section is slated to open in early 2008.

AVR Realty Company LLC will develop two new shopping centers in upstate New York: the 80,000-square-foot Patriot Plaza in New Windsor and the 90,000-square-foot Stadium Plaza in Fishkill (above). Patriot Plaza is part of a master planned community called Patriot Ridge with 220 units, while Stadium Plaza will anchor a housing development called the Waterfront at Fishkill.

Developers Diversified Realty named Daniel Hurwitz senior executive vice president and chief investment officer. Hurwitz has been executive vice president since 1999.

Retail investor advisory firm REZA Investment Group hired Terry Bortnick as president. Bortnick was formerly the director of anchor leasing for Pan Pacific Retail Properties.

Inland Mid-Atlantic Management Corp., a division of the Inland Real Estate Group of Cos., hired Tammy Cox as director of marketing. She held the same position at CBL Properties/Faison & Associates. Heather Henderson is the new regional marketing director.

Investment banking and commercial real estate brokerage firm Garrick-Aug hired Paul Goldberg as director of capital markets. Goldberg was the managing director of private investment company GeoPower International.
