Mall security steps up

Oct 11, 2001 12:00 PM, Misty Reagin

San Diego – Security officers at more than 160 malls across the country are currently using Inspection Manager from locally based TISCOR to automate security operations.

The system works through security officers using Palm Pilots and other hand-held computers to scan barcodes placed at hundreds of security checkpoints, automatically recording the time, date and location of inspection. At the conclusion of the guard tour, the information is transferred electronically from the hand-held computer to a PC. Users can then print up detailed reports outlining security inspections and prove compliance to various regulatory agencies.
