UCR/Tricor merger createsTexas' largest manager

Sep 13, 2002 12:00 PM, — by Ben Johnson, Editor-in-Chief

The recent merger of two Dallas-based retail services firms, United Commercial Realty (UCR) and Tricor Realty Advisors LLC, creates the largest third-party shopping center leasing and management firm in Texas. The combined portfolio of third-party properties includes more than 167 shopping centers and retal buildings, totaling about 16 million sq. ft. across the state.

Since 1988, UCR has made its name as a retail services firm, specializing in tenant representation, property representation, investment property services, property management, development services, surplus property disposition, research and information services and consulting services. Tricor has focused exclusively on landlord representation since its founding in 1991.

"Though we have been extremely successful in project leasing, we felt the need to strengthen our capabilities in landlord representation," said UCR president and CEO Mickey Ashmore. "This is a powerful merger that will reinforce our position in the marketplace by clarifying our focus on project leasing."

Tricor chairman and CEO David Pemberton joins UCR as a partner and will serve as president of landlord services.

UCR is a member of ChainLinks Retail Advisors.
