Albertson's expands its online grocery service

Oct 24, 2001 12:00 PM, SCW Staff

SAN DIEGO -- Albertson's Inc. expanded its online grocery operation, Albertsons.com, to San Diego. The site gives consumers the option of home delivery or pick-up of their grocery order at a local Albertson's store.

The chain already offers the online service to customers in the Seattle area. Albertson's now sees greater San Diego County as a strong follow-up market for the service.

With the click of a mouse at http://www.Albertsons.com, customers can order any item available in an Albertson's store. Once an order is sent from the customer's computer, it is forwarded to one of Albertson's five local fulfillment stores.

All products ordered through Albertsons.com will be available at the same prices available in Albertson's stores. Customers may choose to have their order scheduled for delivery to their home or office within a 1 1/2 hour window, or they can have their order packaged and ready for pick-up at any of Albertson's 38 stores in San Diego County.
