Black October

Investors fled from retail REITs in October leaving most of the companies very near 52-week lows. General Growth Properties is now down more than 98 percent from its 52-week high.

Spread the Wealth

Consumers plan to spread holiday shopping out this year with about half of shoppers planning to begin shopping between Black Friday and December 21. The prime motive to wait is for discounts and to allow more time to save for spending.

Down and Out

Retail sales have collapsed measured month-over-month and year-over-year.

Consumers Retrench

Retail same-store sales came in with one of the worst months in the history of the index.
