Cincinnati-based Federated Department Stores, Inc. announced that David L. Nichols, former chairman and CEO of Mercantile Stores, will become president and COO of Federated's Atlanta-based Rich's/Lazarus/Goldsmith's (RLG) division, effective immediately. Nichols succeeds Edwin J. Holman, who in June was named president and CEO of Bloomingdale's. In his new post, Nichols will report to Arnold Orlick, chairman and CEO of Federated's RLG group.
