Aug 13, 2001 12:00 PM, Misty Reagin

Oklahoma City – Locally based Fleming Cos. is exercising its right to reject select stores from the acquisition of Albuquerque, N.M.-based Furrs Supermarkets Inc. Fleming says it will not buy 17 locations in New Mexico and Texas.

Unable to find buyers for the stores, Furrs plans to shutter the locations this month. The bankruptcy court approved the purchase of 66 Furrs stores by Fleming in June.
