GIRL'S CLUB

Jul 1, 2003 12:00 PM

Gadzooks isn't interested in guys anymore. The 425-store teen accessories and apparel chain, which saw first quarter same-store sales fall 10.6 percent, is eliminating its men's merchandise and introducing a female-only concept. The process, to be completed by July 30, includes a redesign with new fixturing and broader merchandise mix targeting slightly older girls (16-22 years old) than before. The retailer's new strategy includes closing 29 stores in 2003 and another 10 in 2004.
