Home Depot to add 89 stores

Sep 5, 2001 12:00 PM, Misty Reagin

Atlanta – Locally based The Home Depot plans to open 89 stores during the third and fourth quarters. The additions will bring the company’s new store base to 204 locations this year.

The home-improvement chain said it would spend nearly $2 billion on capital expenditures in the second half of its fiscal year. The majority of that figure will be used to open the new stores. Home Depot estimates an average cost of $14.9 million for each new shop.
