Saks Fifth Avenue store to close in White Plains, New York

Aug 10, 2001 12:00 PM, Misty Reagin

Birmingham, Ala.Saks Inc. recently announced plans to close its 128,000 sq. ft. Saks Fifth Avenue store located in White Plains, New York. The company has reached an agreement to sell the real estate to local retailer, Fortunoff, but will continue to operate the store through Christmas 2001.

The White Plains location is being closed because it was determined that the company's return on investment criteria were not being met, and that the store's customers could be well served by other Saks Fifth Avenue stores in the area.
