Ahold enters Slovakia

Zaandam, Netherlands – Locally based supermarket retailer, Royal Ahold NV, plans to begin operating stores in Slovakia this November, with the first store planned for the capital, Bratislava.

Ahold will use its 35,000-sq.-ft. Hypernova format in the country, which sells both food and non-food items. It plans to add eight compact and two very large hypermarkets in Slovakia within a 12-month period.
