Macy's expands into Hawaii

Honolulu – Cincinnati-based Federated Department Stores Inc. recently announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Liberty House, Hawaii’s largest retailer. The sale is expected to be completed by mid-July.

The acquisition includes 11 department stores and seven resort and specialty stores in Hawaii, and one department store on Guam. The company will become part of the San Francisco-based Macy's West division, and will ultimately be converted to the Macy's nameplate.
