Nash Finch selling Carolina stores

May 8, 2001 12:00 PM, Misty Reagin

Minneapolis – Locally based Nash Finch Co. is selling its stores in North Carolina and South Carolina to undisclosed buyers. This decision is part of the company’s plan to exit the Southeast region and focus on its stores in the upper Midwest.

As a result, 11 stores will be sold to an independent owner who operates under the Piggly Wiggly banner. An additional seven stores will be sold to another independent retailer who will run the stores under the IGA banner. The stores will continue to be serviced through Nash Finch’s distribution center in Lumberton, N.C.
