Sears buying store locations from Montgomery Ward

Hoffman Estates, Ill. – Locally based Sears, Roebuck and Co. is acquiring 18 former Montgomery Ward department store locations and 10 auto centers for an undisclosed sum.

Sears plans to convert four department store locations to its Great Indoors design, while the remaining 14 locations will become Sears name brand stores. The Home Depot, Kohl’s and Wal-Mart also are in line to acquire former locations of Montgomery Ward.
