Toys ‘R’ Us to test new concept

Jun 12, 2001 12:00 PM, Misty M. Reagin

Montvale, N.J. – Rural American towns that are unable to support either a Toys ‘R’ Us, Babies ‘R’ Us or Kids ‘R’ Us store will soon be offered elements of all three stores in one location. Locally based Toys 'R' Us Inc. says it will begin testing the hybrid concept early in 2002 in towns that have a population of roughly 75,000.

The new prototype – which has yet to be named – will range from 35,000 sq. ft. to 40,000 sq. ft., roughly the same size as its current format.
