Officials in Kingfisher, Okla. — Sam Walton's hometown — have erected an eight-foot-tall bronze statue saluting the founder of the world's largest retailer. The statue sits outside a Wal-Mart Supercenter and was unveiled at the store's grand opening in late October. Employees who have worked at the original Kingfisher Wal-Mart discount store since it opened in 1976 were on hand to help with the unveiling. Walton was born in Kingfisher in 1918 and died in 1992.
