CompUSA to cut 700 jobs

Jun 8, 2001 12:00 PM, Misty M. Reagin

Dallas – Locally based CompUSA Inc. plans to cut 700 jobs, which is approximately 4% of its work force, as it restructures its business services. The company did not say when the cuts would occur, but did report that in the quarter ending June 30, it expects to take an after-tax charge of about $4 million.

A spokesperson for CompUSA said this measure will initially result in decreased sales volume, but the company expects annual cost savings of about $30 million.
