Fleming Cos. makes offer to acquire Furrs Supermarkets

Albuquerque, N.M. – Locally based Furrs Supermarkets’ board of directors recently approved the proposed acquisition of 66 Furrs’ stores in New Mexico and west Texas by Oklahoma City-based Fleming Cos.

Under terms of the agreement, Fleming will pay $57 million for real estate and equipment leases, liquor licenses and other contracts. An additional $43 million will be paid for inventory at all 66 stores and a warehouse, bringing the total purchase prices to $100 million.
