Grocery store segment continues to narrow

Grocery store consolidation continues to build steam, according to The Advisor, a monthly report by CB Richard Ellis' Southeast/Mid-Atlantic Retail Investment Advisors team.

Ahold recently announced its purchase of the Birmingham, Ala.-based Bruno's chain, while rumors concerning a potential sale of Albertson's stores in non-core markets, a possible Winn-Dixie buyout, and Publix either acquiring Harris Teeter or being acquired by Safeway abound.
