Supervalu announces sale of two distribution centers

Minneapolis – Locally based Supervalu Inc. plans to sell two distribution centers located in Perryman, Md. and Suffield, Conn. to Fleming Cos. Inc. The transaction is expected to close on June 30, 2001 following customary approvals.

The 600,000-sq.-ft. Perryman distribution center primarily supplies Troy, Mich.-based Kmart. The 675,000-sq.-ft. facility in Suffield serves several customers who will be transferred to Supervalu’s Eastern region facility in Harrisburg, Pa. or to its New England region distribution centers in Andover, Mass.; Cranston, R.I.; and Portland, Maine.
