Teen Style-O-Meter

May 1, 2004 12:00 PM

The coolest kids in high school are sporting duds from Abercrombie & Fitch and its offshoot Hollister this spring, according to Piper Jaffray's recent Spring 2004 “Taking Stock with Teens” tour, which involved analysts visiting 15 high schools in 12 states and one Canadian province to survey more than 700 students with an average age of 17. The survey shows teens are spending more on fashion this spring: girls said they'll spend 9 percent more than in 2003 and boys said they'll 12 percent more. Here's how the students rated the fashionability of their shopping haunts. Zero represents the height of trendiness, while five represents the depth of unhipness.
